Traveling to Delhi with Kids? Don't Miss Delhi's Parks & Playgrounds

Wow! We're heading home tomorrow. Between intermittent internet connections and literally no free time away from The Todder I have written nothing. Hoping to fill in the many blanks in the coming weeks. In the interim here are three Delhi parks where you can let the little ones blow off some steam:

1. Lodi Gardens: This is our hands-down favorite public garden in Delhi. It's beautiful and full of architectural elements that you associate with Delhi. Best of all there are always lots of children around. We even found a kids karate class in session that took a break to play chase with The Toddler. After Lodi Gardens head to Khan Market for some shopping, lunch at Amici's if you need a break from Indian food and ice cream at The Big Chill.
2. Nehru Gardens: Not far from the National Railway Museum (a hit with local and foreign kids alike), Nehru Gardens makes for a wonderful Sunday afternoon stroll where you'll surely come across plenty of willing chai wallas and potato chip sellers as well as kids racing after soccer balls.
3. Playground near India Gate: In the shadow of this very monument sits a lovely playground filled with play equipment straight from childhood (that's your childhood not your kids). The merry go rounds, see saws and roller slides that have long since been banned in the west are alive and well, pleasing children around the globe right here in Delhi. We test drove the equipment for an hour or two and emerged in better shape than we did from the kid's play zone in the domestic airport (think large cresent-shaped facial bruise).
